Plotting a Steady Course for Canoe
When Gloucestershire business coaches Canoe needed help to spread the word about their unique coaching programme, they turned to us to develop a brand and a striking online presence that would drive enquiries.
We’ve worked with Richard Gray, the mastermind behind Canoe, on various different projects over the years, and his enthusiasm for getting businesses on the right track is infectious. So when he came and told us about his new business venture, we were excited to get started.
First of all, Richard needed a name for his coaching service. We came up with a variety of possibilities, but Canoe was the winner for us. It was inspired by the way Richard steers his clients in the right direction and sets a course that puts them on the path to success, either moving forward on their own after Richard’s initial help, or working in a team with Richard to help meet their goals.
We created the branding for Canoe using a simple line drawing of a paddle that wouldn’t look out of place amongst big tech firms, and chose a striking salmon shade that would be sure to stand out. We carried this theme across to the website, creating a unique colour scheme that instantly catches the eye.
We wanted to keep the Canoe website as simple as possible, so we stripped back the sitemap and kept the core of the site to just a few pages. We created bespoke illustrations that are used throughout the site to bring Richard’s key services and ideas to life, while signposting information with big, bold text.
Copywriting was down to us, so we stayed away from the usual business coach jargon to showcase Richard’s proposition in a refreshingly straightforward, yet playful way. The website has a blog built in, too, so new content can be added easily, giving the website more SEO value and allowing Richard to put his insight front and centre.
